Part of being happy is to love what you do. No matter what it is! Most people will admit that they hate their jobs, or that they are not happy with where they are at in their career. I am (admittedly) one of those people. I have two jobs, one to keep me afloat financially and my dream job.
My regular 9-5 is not a horrible job by no means. I mean, it pays the bills and the people I work with are great. But that’s about all the good I can say about that.
As for my dream job, I love it!! I run my own business making candles, but it’s not completely off the ground and I can’t make a full-time living off it yet.
Regardless, I understand that with a lot of hard work and perseverance I will get to the point where I can quit my 9-5 and be able to work my dream job without having to worry about where my next meal is coming from.
So how do you start loving what you do? First, find something you are completely and utterly passionate about. Doesn’t matter what it is. I truly believe you can do anything you put your mind to. However, you must be able and willing to work hard. All your blood, sweat and tears will go into this love of yours. You’ve gotta be prepared to bust your ass, expect to get knocked down over and over again, but be passionate enough to get right back up.
Understand the true meaning of a hard days work. I am up at 5:30am every morning. I do my workout, I make breakfast and I get my kids ready for school. Then I get my butt to work. I get home around 5:30pm and I make dinner, do the dishes and then start working on my business until 11:30pm at night. On the weekends, I take care of my family, my home and my business. It’s 7-days a week. It’s non-stop. But it is what it is. If I don’t bust my ass then it won’t happen. Because no one will make it happen for me. This is my dream.
In a world of instant gratification, we have lost the concept of “good things come in time”. We expect everything to happen NOW! We expect success NOW! We expect financial stability NOW! Unfortunately, things don’t work that way.
But with enough determination and the understanding that things take time… you will get to where you want to be and you will love what you do.
