Its very easy for this life to get you down… whether it’s your job, your relationships, or just your general situation. Maybe you’re not where you want to be in life, maybe you’re not happy with the way your body looks. Maybe you’re suffering from depression or you’re facing other health problems.
This life is tough, that’s no secret. However, there is a way to stay happy when life’s got you down. The power of positivity is real.
Daily affirmations. Like I mentioned in my post What is Happiness – when I first decided I want to be happy the first thing I did was make a sign with little affirmations written on it and I read it several times a day. It really works! Daily positive affirmations kinda help ground you and if you hear something enough times, naturally you will start to believe it.
Be a duck. This was the best advice I was ever given. But what does it mean? The feathers on a duck naturally repel water. So when it comes to life and its hardships… bite the bullet and deal with your issues, however be a duck and let life’s troubles just roll off your back. Don’t dwell on them and don’t absorb them.
Meditation. Daily meditation is important as it helps attain inner peace and inner peace is crucial when it comes to your own happiness. It clears out your chakras and settles the mind. It relieves stress, relaxes the body and reduces blood pressure.
Be kind and help others. This is extremely important for me. I have the natural desire and ability to help people. They naturally gravitate to me. People I don’t even know will randomly open up to me and ask me for help and they actually LISTEN to the advice I give them. The funny thing is, I have no qualifications to do so. I am no doctor, I am no therapist… although I wish I was. I’ve always been known as ‘The Therapist’ among my friends. Helping people makes me feel great! Being kind and helping others gives me that warm fuzzy feeling lol. I’ve been to the depths of hell and back again. I truly understand how something so simple as being kind or helping someone in need can actually turn their entire lives around. There is positivity and warmth in being kind and helping others.
Stay positive. Even when you feel like you’re being swallowed whole and the darkness is creeping in, stay positive. This is a lot harder than it sounds. I know. Force yourself to see the bright side. Force yourself to believe as Johnny Depp said “Remember, it’s just a bad day, not a bad life”. Sometimes bad feelings can last a long time, especially when you’re battling depression. Believing in yourself and taking baby steps will almost always see success.
Focus on being happy and staying positive. Make sure to have a healthy diet, exercise and sleep properly. Let go of the negative and reduce your stress. This life can and will eat you alive if you let it. You’re stronger than that and you can do this! True happiness feels amazing and I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and find the true happiness within yourself.
